Amateur radio station (M3UMX) (2E0SFC)
Ok so I have had a burning fascination of how radio works and all things physics for as long as I remember, I have been a SWL for probably as long. Over the years I always wanted to get my Amateur radio licence but never found the time. So when I found that the licence had been split into 3 parts I decided it was the right time to get on and do it so instead of trying to find 9 months to really have a go at the RAE this way you can study at your leisure so that suited me as time is very limited. So in 2007 I took the foundation and passed gaining the call M3UMX. Then a few months later I took the intermediate and passed gaining the call 2E0SFC so that is where I am now. I'm studying for the full licence now and when time permits I will sit the exam and see how I get on, and in the meantime I am having lots of fun playing radio and learning in a practical way rather than just studying the books witch I believe is a much nicer way to gain the licence.
So my station, here in the shack I have,
icom ic-745
icom-ic7000
yaesu ft-101zd
yaesu frg-7
yaesu frg-50b
standard c5900
and a lot of home brew equipment
So my antennas are a G5RV, Inverted L and a multiband vertical ground mounted with 70 radials at various halfwave lengths obviously for the various bands.
I am QRV on 160m 80m 40m 30m 20m 17m 15m 12m 10m 6m 4m (fm) 2m and 70cms with some microwave projects planned. I operate all modes I really enjoy digital modes . My Morse code skills are coming along however it is still very slow but I always seem to find a station willing to slow down for me so we can have a qso witch is nice.
I love to build things and spend a lot if my time doing this, recently I have built an aprs tracker and TNC using PICs. I also build PC soundcard interfaces for digi modes. Some other projects include, A regenerative shortwave receiver, a WX satellite receiver just completed an ATU and PSU. I have also built a radio telescope to record data from Jupiter and the sun with more projects in the pipe line.
I love to collect qsl cards, I take qsl's via the bureau, direct of via http://www.eqsl.cc my direct details can be found on http://www.qrz.com/ or in the call book, I always reply to all qsl's.
And my contact e-mail is E-mail
So I hope this page is useful and hope to see you on the bands 73.
